The Magi

It was a miracle! The star the magi had followed all the way to Israel began to move! And it didn’t stop moving until it was right over the place where Jesus and his family were living. The magi were amazed! They were overjoyed!
It’s not every day that we see miracles. So when they happen it’s pretty special. That’s why the magi were excited and overjoyed. They knew something cosmic was happening and that the baby they were about to see was extremely special. They were overjoyed to be a part of the world changing event.
Maybe we need to capture some of their excitement. We need to be overjoyed to be a part of God’s story in this world. This Christmas week, we need to stop and be blown away by the baby Jesus. Be overjoyed for what Christ has done for us! Be overwhelmed by the fact that God sent His one and only Son to save us and set us free from sin and death! Continue Reading

The Shepherds

The Shepherds were far from ideal messengers for announcing the birth of Jesus. At least far from ideal in most people’s eyes. They weren’t educated. They were not particularly articulate and winsome. They were not highly connected, nor were they astute at networking. The Shepherds were not very presentable. Yet, God chose them above emperors, local rulers, and the religious elite. Continue Reading
