Church

The church has to relearn what it means to be the church. Too many of us have unhealthy, unrealistic views and expectations of church.
I get tired of hearing “when are you going to build that church?”. The question is wrong on so many levels! First, the words translated as church in the bible never refer to a building but always to the people of God. Secondly, humans can’t build the church only God can. And finally, God’s timing has nothing to do with mine- God works when He wishes not when I want.
My standard answer has become God is building it everyday-one changed life at a time! You see, God is more concerned about the mission than a building. He has called each one of us to be a missionary to our community not a consumer of religious church programming.
Just think about it- does church as you know it look anything like what Jesus started or what the disciples started? There were no buildings, no programs to attract people – it was a movement of people sold out to loving God, sharing their story and Christ’s story with others, serving the needy, and living simple lifestyles so that all they had could be put to work for God’s kingdom.
That’s my dream and vision for the grove! Let’s be the church we read about in the Bible not the ones we see or hear about on TV. Continue Reading

I pray for the church, for people in need and for my family. But lately, I feel like I have been missing a passion in my prayer life- a passion I once had and want badly to recapture.
